DVTFC participates in two types of meets: Mini-Meets and USATF Youth Meets.
Mini-Meets are informal, half-day practice meets with 2 or 3 other local USATF youth clubs where athletes can gain early season competition experience in a low-key setting and can enter any number of track or field events.
USATF Sanctioned Youth Meets are large, multi-club, competitive meets (typically all-day long) for more experienced track athletes to compete against age group members of other Northern California USATF youth clubs.
All meets DVTFC plans to attend as a team are listed on the Calendar ( page of the web site.
2024 FEES
The 2024 Spring track program fee is $550 per athlete, with a $100 discount for each additional sibling athlete.  Fees include USATF membership, insurance, facilities permits/rentals, coaching stipends, equipment, supplies, and all meet entry fees.
Athletes compete in 2-year age groups the entire year, based on their year of birth.  Boys and girls compete separately, although sometimes for convenience the events are run simultaneously.  Age groups for 2024 are:

            Age Group

              Year of Birth

Under 8

2016 or earlier

17-18  summer session only

Athletes may compete in following events, depending on age group:
  • Dashes - 100, 200 and 400 meters
  • Runs - 800, 1500 and 3000 meters
  • Relays – 4 X 100, medley, 4 X 400, 4 X 800
  • Hurdles - 80, 100 and 200 meters
  • Field events - high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus and javelin
Competition singlets (with black shorts) will be available for purchase for all athletes entering meets and are to be ordered through our uniform supplier.  Uniform ordering info will be distributed at the end of the first week of practice.
Athletes should wear good quality running shoes with sturdy heel counters, good mid-sole cushioning,  and correct sizing:
  • Buy shoes with running in mind.  Shoes worn to school will not last the season and maintain their protective cushioning.
  • Do not send your athlete to practice with tennis, "cross training", fashion or sports shoes that lack the appropriate cushioning or flexibility.
  • For meets, "spikes" may benefit sprinters and jumpers and distance runners may benefit by wearing racing flats.  However, we advise athletes to consult with our coaches before investing in competition footwear.
