DVTFC holds a fall Cross Country season and competes at Northern California USATF-sanctioned youth meets , culminating in area USATF Junior Olympic qualifier meets in late November.  The 2023 Junior Olympic Cross-Country Championship will be held in Louisville KY on December 9th.

The 2023 DVTFC Cross Country (X-C) season begin Tuesday, August 29th and continues through the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

Program

Open to boys and girls age 9 - 15 (younger and older athletes accepted with coaches approval), both experienced and beginners,  who like to run longer distances and be part of a competitive running team. All athletes participating in the X-C program MUST be able AND willing to continuously run at least 2 miles (8 laps on a track).

Practices/Workouts

• Tuesdays 5pm - 6pm   @ Lafayette-Moraga Trail (Lafayette)
• Thursdays  5pm - 6pm  @ Lafayette Reservoir
• Sundays 9am - 10am @ Larkey Park (Walnut Creek) and other area venues

All practice times and locations will be listed on the "Calendar" section of the DVTFC website. (Once DST ends, afternoon times will be moved up due to darkness.)

Meets

DVTFC participates in 4 or 5 sectional Youth X-C meets, select community runs (including the Lafayette Reservoir Run), and the JO XC qualifiers in November. Meet participation is not required but highly encouraged.

2023 Fees

a)   $475 for the first athlete. 

b)   $375 for each additional sibling athlete. 

Program fees cover all insurance, meet fees, coaches stipends, supplies, and facilities permits.  Participation is at the discretion of DVTFC and its coaches.

(There is an additional $75 per athlete charge for athletes who qualify and compete in the National Junior Olympics X-C meet to defer the cost of additional coaching and travel cost.)

In order to provide proper attention to all our X-C athletes, we expect to limit this year's program to 35 participants  - so register early to secure a spot !
