2008 Track and Field Season starts February 25 !

Diablo Valley Track and Field Club (DVTFC) is a USA Track & Field affiliated Youth track club serving the Lamorinda, Pleasant Hill, and Walnut Creek area for over 35 years.  It is open to girls and boys ages 9 (born in 1999) to 15 who love to run, jump and throw.

DVTFC is implementing new registration and participation changes for the 2008 season.

In recent years, our club’s coaching and parent volunteer staffs have struggled to keep up with the volume of enthusiastic newcomers to the wonderful sport of track & field.  As a result, we have made a few changes in order to do a better job of balancing the supply and demand of coaching resources and ensure all club members have a positive and rewarding experience.

Trial Period

We will hold a two-week trial period during the weeks of February 25th and March 3rd.  This trial period is mostly for the benefit of athletes and their families who want to better understand what they are getting into before making a commitment for the entire season.  Additionally, our coaching staff may choose to decline admission to athletes who don’t bring the proper work ethic to the track during our trial period.  Membership in the club is NOT dependent upon one's track & field skills or experience.

The trial period is as follows:

  • Mon 2/25, Tues 2/26, Thurs 2/28 (must attend two days)

  • Mon 3/3, Tues 3/4, Thurs 3/6 (must attend two days)

  • Pleasant Hill Middle School track – 4:30 to 6 p.m.

  • $60 fee (includes $20 USATF membership – mandatory for insurance purposes)

  • Click HERE for Registration info and forms

Regular Season Commitment

This year, we will ask all athletes to commit to the entire 10 week season.  Commitment includes attending at least 2 practices per week (except for spring break week) and at least 3 track meets.  Parents are required to volunteer at 1 (of 2) Saturday morning 'mini-meets'.

The regular season details are:

  • March 10 through May 18

  • Practices Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 4:30 to 6pm , Pleasant Hill Middle School

  • Sunday afternoon field event clinics, TBD, Acalanes High School

  • Click HERE for tentative meet schedule

  • $250-$275 fee (includes meet fees and team logo t-shirt and track shorts)

  • Must complete trial period to register

Our Coaching Mission

  • Get our athletes in good physical condition

  • Teach our athletes good running form and the fundamentals of the various track & field events

  • Teach our athletes about good nutrition and health

  • Prepare our athletes for age-group competition during the season

  • Foster an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie
