The DVTFC coaching staff is comprised of both returning and new coaches with an excellent mix of middle and long distance running, sprinting, jumping and throwing experience. Darrin Neutz (Head Coach) Darrin, the former Acalanes HS head track and cross-country coach, stats his 4th year with DVTFC. Darrin brings over 20 years of coaching experience to DVTFC, will coordinate our overall training program, and work closely with our sprinters and middle distance runners. Darrin recently completed his USATF Level 2 coaching certification.
Harlan Lopez (Asst Head Coach -
Middle/Long Distance)
Harlan, entering this 9th year coaching
for DVTFC, is a USATF certified Level 1 coach, and former Division I
track and cross-country athlete at Northern Arizona University. Harlan's focus will be on middle and long
distance training and continues to compete at an elite level in PAUSATF
races.
Amy Banas (Asst Coach - High Jump)
Amy has a masters degree from Cal Berkeley
and recently completed her USATF Level 2 coaching certification. She is a graduate
of Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, where she competed in the high jump.
This is Amy's 6th year with DVTFC. Amy has sent athletes to Junior
Olympics in HJ the last 5 years.
Jeff Thomas (Asst Coach - Throws)
Jeff is a Level 1 USATF certified
coach, moved from 'volunteer dad' to assistant
coaching status, and also coaches throws at Campolindo HS. Jeff will
focus his efforts on strength conditioning, shot put and discus.
Johnleigh Dean (Associate Coach - Jumps and Throws) Johnleigh is a DVTFC alumni who will complete his USATF Level 1 certification in 2012. A double JO medalist for DVTFC in the multi-events and javelin and accomplished pole vaulter at Miramonte HS, Johnleigh will work with jumpers, throwers and sprinters this year.
Additional event coaches will be added as demand requires and high school / junior college athletes may assist our coaching staff as needed. |
